Kylie Unsure About Marriage

16 04 2008

Kylie has revealed that she may never settle down and have children after admitting a conventional marriage may not be right for her. In a recent interview for ‘German Vogue’ magazine Kylie explained that although she loves playing aunt, she still feels unsure if she wants a family of her own.

Kylie told the magazine that she sometimes dreams about a permanent relationship and children but on other days she thinks perhaps it is “not the right path” for her. She said, “I never had the feeling of a conventional marriage with a terraced house in the suburbs. Media interest in ‘super mothers’, those who are simultaneously on the stage and bringing up children is understandable, but for many that is too much of a good thing.

“There are also artists such as Debby Harry or Dolly Parton who have managed to have an unbelievable career without a family. Above everything else it comes down to how much love you have in you and if you are ready to give that love.”

Kylie goes on to explain that when she goes back home to Australia she loves spending time with her 22-month-old nephew, the son of her brother Brendan, but added, “How it would be if I had my own family I simply cannot say.”

Kylie recently sparked speculation she was back together with her former French boyfriend Oliver Martinez after they were spotted together in Paris, but explained, “The rumours only came about because we had a dinner appointment. Regardless of what people say about him [Martinez], or me, or about us, no-one can take away the special characteristics of our experiences together.”

When asked about her upcoming X2008 tour, Kylie made it clear that this tour would be a different to anything she has done before. “The showgirl and the feathers are behind me. Now I would like to hit on a new direction. Jean Paul Gautier sketched all my costumes for the tour – all couture. For example a wonderful black velvet overall with an opening in the middle that seems to defy the laws of gravity – it is a little reminiscent of an army uniform but is nevertheless very chic, very modern.”
