Murder Ballads Revisited

17 09 2008

Kylie appeared on this weekend’s ‘Great Australian Albums’ on Australian TV Channel SBS talking about her duet with Nick Cave, the haunting ‘Where The Wild Roses Grow’. The episode looks at Cave’s 1995 album ‘Murder Ballads’ and includes a previously unseen interview with Kylie. Keep reading to watch the clip.

During the show Nick Cave reveals that he rang his mate Michael Hutchence to convince Kylie to sing with him. Kylie was in the room at the time of the call and apparently said yes instantly.

It was Nick Cave who also convinced Kylie to recite her first UK hit ‘I Should Be So Lucky’ at the Poetry Olympics held at The Royal Albert Hall in 1996.

Kylie also appeared with Nick and Shane McGowan for a live performance of the Murder Ballads track ‘Death Is Not The End’.

Thanks to DSP at SayHey for making the SBS interview available.

Samara is KylieKrazy

Where The WildRoses Grow is a great song, I really love how it is so different from what Kylie usually does. I’ve always wanted to see the vid of her reading the lyrics of I Should Be So Lucky! Thanks so much for posting she was so funny! I don’t really like Death Is Not The End, didn’t PJ Harvey sing in that song too? Anyway, Thanks! LOVE this site!!!

Hi Sam,

Your wish is my command! The audio track is the original album version which does also include P.J.Harvey as Samara mentioned.

Dave 🙂

P.S. Glad you guys are all enjoying the site – thanks for all your feedback, it’s much appreciated.
